Top Wood Group executives visit Jaguar Land Rover
The Automated Technology Group – the parent company of PSJ Fabrications – recently hosted the monthly Executive Leadership Team and Board meeting of its parent, Wood Group, at ATG’s headquarters in Silsoe. “We were delighted to welcome senior executives from Wood Group to our offices and give them an overview of our manufacturing and administrative operations here at Silsoe,” said Andy Robinson, CEO of The Automated Technology Group.
After a successful Board meeting, two of ATG’s young engineers, Toby Issacs and James Mason, demonstrated the company’s Virtual Simulation Technology to the Wood Group team; this provided an insight into the advanced skills used by ATG to de-risk large system integration at customers’ sites. This implementation process was seen at first hand the next day when the Wood Group team was escorted on a site visit by senior executives from Jaguar Land Rover at their Solihull facility. Occupying a 300-acre site, the Solihull plant employs over 10,000 people in three-shift, 24-hour production and utilises ATG control systems extensively to facilitate the automated production of Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Discovery, XE, F-Pace and Velar models.
“Our Wood Group colleagues were very interested to witness first-hand the design and simulation processes our engineers use to de-risk system implementation and ensure optimisation of the large-scale automation systems we provide to our customers; this was cemented by watching the actual robot production lines used to manufacture the Range Rover and Jaguar vehicles,” said Andy Robinson.
The visit concluded with an exciting 4×4 off-road driving session at the Land Rover Experience all-terrain track adjacent to the factory.
